Private Pesticide Applicator Certification and Re-Certification Course
The Private Pesticide Applicator Certification is a certification through VDACS’s Office of Pesticide Services that allows you to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides on your farm or property here in Virgina. We will be offering a recertification course that will provide currently certified applicators with 2 years of credit for categories 90 and 91. This course will include a legal update, safety demonstrations about operating a self-propelled sprayer and what to do if a large spill occurs, and updates on relevant pests of commonly grown crops in Virginia as well as pesticide labels. Participants must sign in at the start of the first workshop and all relevant sessions as well as complete the re-certification paperwork to receive credit. If you are unsure of your status/banked credits as a pesticide applicator or are unsure if you need to recertify soon, Elizabeth will be able to look up your certification status on site prior to the workshop beginning. If you are not currently certified as a private applicator, the test will be available and will be administered to those that are interested after the workshop sessions are completed. We cannot possibly touch on every topic that is on the test in just a few short hours, as a result we recommend that you either contact your local extension office to borrow a copy of the core manual to study from or that you purchase your own copy here: https://vtpp.ento.vt.edu/index/manuals.html . We look forward to you joining us for these sessions and taking back valuable skills to improve your operations or to use in your careers! Attendees with questions about this session/course can contact Elizabeth Cooper at 757-635-0888 or by email at elizp16@vt.edu with any questions.
