Bob Farmer is a writer and spokesman of the Farmers’ Almanac. A writer for the almanac, Farmer brings the treasured publication alive through his unique, down-home wit and appreciation of the humors of everyday life. He has been quoted on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, appeared at the Grand Ole Opry and travels the nation informing, motivating and entertaining audiences of every type.
Deanna Hylton began her career at The Greenbrier in July 2006 as a bunker tour guide. Over the past sixteen years she has immersed herself in the resort’s rich history, studying and learning from the recently retired Greenbrier historian. Presently you will find her managing the bunker tours, escape rooms, and all aspects of The Greenbrier’s rich history. As a native of the area, Deanna enjoys sharing her knowledge and love for The Greenbrier with its many guests.
Rose Jeter is the chair of the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. Jeter has a diverse background in sales, marketing and education, and is an instructor for Virginia Tech’s Agricultural Technology Program. She teaches multiple courses and also markets and recruits for the program, which helps form future agriculturalists. Jeter and her husband, Ned, reside in Botetourt County where they and their two children operate a row crop, hay, beef cattle and agritourism operation.
Matt Lohr is Virginia’s secretary of agriculture and forestry and a fifth-generation Rockingham County farmer who was raised on a Virginia Century Farm. Lohr was appointed to his current role by Gov. Glenn Youngkin in January after previously serving as chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. He also served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 until 2010 and served as the Virginia Department of Agriculture of Consumer Services commissioner from 2010 until 2013. Lohr also is a past president of Rockingham County Farm Bureau.
Martha Moore is senior vice president of governmental relations for Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. Her responsibilities include managing Farm Bureau’s overall lobbying efforts at the local, state and national levels and handling issues related to higher education, as well as any budget issues. Moore grew up on a farm in Pittsylvania County.
Andrew Walmsley is the senior director of congressional relations for American Farm Bureau Federation. In his role, Walmsley leads AFBF’s farm policy team and manages biotechnology, climate, energy and transportation issues for the organization. Walmsley is a founding member and former chair of the Farmers for a Sustainable Future Coalition, co-chairs the Agricultural Transportation Working Group and is a founding member of the Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance.
Charles Wilfong has served as president of West Virginia Farm Bureau Inc since 1997 and has served on that organization’s board of directors since 1983. Wilfong and his family operate Wilfong Farms in West Virginia’s Pocahontas County, which borders Bath and Highland counties in Virginia. The business consists of 10,000 acres of farmland and timberland, on which the Wilfongs raise cattle, sheep, hay and corn.
